Another firing incident at Manipur INC candidate's meet, second attack in a week

Imphal, Manipur, March 20 (HBTV): Gunfire was reported again on Tuesday, March 19 at Teinem village in Ukhrul in Manipur during an election-related meeting of a Congress party candidate for the Lok Sabha elections.     



Unconfirmed reports said that the firing might have been carried out by a Naga underground group.         



The first firing incident occurred at the Indian National Congress’ intending candidate Alfred Kangnam Arthur's meeting at TK Woodland Resort in Ukhrul on Monday, March 18. The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee lodged a complaint to the chief election officer of Manipur in this regard.       



The second firing incident happened reportedly at another meeting of the Congress party's forthcoming Lok Sabha election candidate, Alfred Kangnam Arthur.                                    



It has been alleged that the attack was carried out by cadres of the militant group National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah faction.      



The Congress party's candidate escaped unhurt in both the incidents. According to some reports, the police confirmed that the incident took place right before the meeting.
